Building a future-ready workforce through a bespoke AI-driven learning and experimentation ecosystem.
Problem
One NZ recognised the transformative potential of artificial Intelligence but needed a structured way to democratise this technology across the organisation. The challenge was twofold: team members lacked a centralised, personalised environment to learn about AI, and there was no dedicated space to experiment with AI against real-world business hurdles. Without a unified platform, the organisation risked fragmented adoption and missed opportunities for operational efficiency.
One NZ’s existing learning products were not tailored to specific job roles or proficiency levels, making it difficult for employees to identify which AI tools were most relevant to their daily tasks. One NZ needed a solution that could bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical business application while ensuring the technology was scalable and transferable to their own infrastructure.
Solution
We partnered with One NZ to deliver an MVP consisting of two core components: AI School and AI Lab. Developed as a digital experience, a full-stack, AI-driven application, the platform features a chat-style interface that engages users to understand their specific roles and proficiencies. We built a sophisticated knowledge map that correlates One NZ’s internal data, roles, and tasks to provide AI-curated learning pathways, seamlessly integrating with their existing learning management systems.
The technical solution utilised a fine-tuned OpenAI LLM specifically trained on One NZ’s role and task data. Hosted on AWS, the architecture was designed to be modular and reusable, ensuring a smooth transition to One NZ’s internal infrastructure in later phases. Alongside the build, a comprehensive Discovery phase defined the long-term roadmap, including functional requirements and a prioritised backlog for future releases.
Result
The MVP successfully launched within six weeks, providing One NZ with a live, hosted environment to pilot the solution across disciplines. The pilot tested well, with employees stating that they valued the AI-enabled personalised recommendations, which gave them greater confidence in learning and applying AI.
One NZ is now equipped to scale the solution across its 2,500 employees and bolster the solution with additional features to help employees and the business realise the operational benefits from AI.
